Students treated to matinee Opera performance

15 aspirational Year 8 students, who are opting to study music at Key Stage 4, were treated to a performance of Giacomo Puccini’s ‘Tosca’ at the Neville Holt Opera.

Director of Music Mr Clive Wears said ‘ The Brooke Weston Trust and Corby Business Academy have built a positive relationship with the prestigious Neville Holt Opera over the past few years, this has resulted in being invited to attend the dress rehearsal of their opera season.

‘Within the space of a year, many of the same Year 8 students have also witnessed a performance of ‘Tosca’ at the Royal Opera House.  It was interesting for the students to compare interpretations of the same opera, one set in Rome and one a modern up to date version set in Paris.  The students were inspired not only by the professional performance but also the stunning scenery of Neville Holt and it’s incredible architecture.  Many of the students have enquired about music and music theatre as a career.’
