Four CBA students visited Leicester University to take part in a Salters chemistry festival.

Year 8 students Niall McGroarty, Jack Laird, Kathryn Bilby and Emily Russell took part in the event last week.

The students won the chance to go to the festival after each writing letters about why they wanted to attend.

The students worked alongside groups of students from 14 other schools.

They took part in two practical challenges – the first involved analysing salts and the second was a chromatography challenge.

Teacher Sharon Bialacki said: “They thought it was brilliant and they had a really good time.”

Salters is holding 52 Festivals of Chemistry at universities across the UK and Ireland this year for students in Years 7 and 8.
