A young singer has been approached by music industry specialists after making it to the final of a national competition.

Year 9 student Chloe Paul, 13, performed at the national final of Open Mic UK at Birmingham’s NEC on Saturday.

Although she did not win the competition she impressed the audience with her performance of Just The Way You Are by Bruno Mars and was picked for artist development by a talent scout from music industry specialists Sound Consultancy.

Chloe said: “I loved performing there. My performance went really well and when I looked over at the judges they were all smiling at me.

“I feel really proud of myself.”

Chloe and her family are planning to arrange a meeting with representatives from Sound Consultancy soon.

Sound Consultancy has told Chloe its artists have been used as supporting acts on UK arena tours with the likes of Lionel Richie and Blue.
