Success for Happy Hands at trade fair

Young entrepreneurs sold £100 of goods when they visited their latest trade fair.

The Happy Hands UK Young Enterprise company, which is made up of students from Unit, took part in the RS Components Trade Fair on Tuesday.

The group took along their chalk boards, salt dough hearts, tea cup candles and tea cup pin cushions to sell at the event.

Happy Hands UK managing director Samantha Gibson said: “My role at the event was to give out information about Happy Hands and to encourage people to buy our products.

“I had to talk to the people who were judging the Young Enterprise companies which I enjoyed.”

Fellow student, Harry Hinxman, was in charge of stock control.

He said: “I thought the event was great and the judges were impressed with us.”

Teacher Nikki Clark said Happy Hands had received positive feedback from the judges.

She added: “Our students’ items ranged in price from 20p up to £5 and lots of people commented how reasonably priced the products were.

“Three of our students really shone at the event – Samantha Gibson, Hagen Rawson and Jordan Andrew.

“Hagen was in charge of the money and was very good at dealing with the customers, helping them to choose their items and making the sales.

“Samantha was a star because she was confident enough to speak to the three judges about the company and the different products it has made.

“Finally Jordan, who is new to Happy Hands this year, was great at helping to distribute information about the company and, again, at helping customers to choose their items.”

The group, which is made up of students from Unit, was also praised by their business advisor from R S Components, Janet Kemm.

She said: "Happy Hands UK has different obstacles to overcome and is very lucky to have Nikki Clark and the rest of the team from CBA looking after them.

"They all do a brilliant job. The group has come on and they have gained confidence."
