Students studying for the Extended Project Qualification at Corby Business Academy visited the University of Northampton to look at higher-level study research skills.

The Year 12 students had a tour of the Park Campus and listened to a presentation about searching the Internet in a smarter way to gather research, using online resources for their assessment and learnt the importance of referencing.

At the end of the session, students had the opportunity to use the university's library to research their EPQ subjects.

Head Librarian at CBA, Miss Amy McKay said ‘I decided to arrange the trip because I thought it was something a little bit different for the students to be involved in. It is helping them with their EPQ research and is preparing them for the type of research they will have to conduct in a few years time if they decide to go to university.

‘The students found the trip very engaging and I have learnt so much, not only about research skills but also about what university life is like. We are definitely going to run this trip again next year and I am currently looking at running other events with the university.'
