An air of excitement and expectation surrounded Corby Business Academy as it welcomed its first students after years of planning. The Principal and staff were on hand to meet Year 7 and DSP students off the buses. They were then ushered through the glass doors where they got their first glimpse inside the £ 30m building. The reception area, dominated by soaring lime green pillars and a massive mural provided a striking introduction to the Academy, which was designed by Fosters + Partners.

Teaching staff appointments

The last month has been very encouraging in terms of new appointments to the Academy teaching staff. The Academy has attracted much interest from highly qualified and experienced colleagues eager to join our team from right across the country, as well as from trainee teachers within Corby Community College. The Academy's Vice Principals and Directors of Subjects have been involved with all the appointments to date and I believe this is crucial if each teaching faculty is to generate a common understanding and operate as a team from the outset.

I have been impressed with all the candidates we have interviewed. I am confident that each of the successful applicants will be welcomed by existing staff and make a huge contribution to the Academy from the start.
