Year 7 and 8 Parent Safety Information Evening – Wednesday, November 16th

AN information evening is being held next week to give Year 7 and 8 parents advice and guidance on issues that may affect their child.

Topical issues such as Internet safety and drug awareness will be on the agenda for the evening which has been organised to provide important information about subjects that can impact on young people's lives.

The evening will be run by our resident Safer Schools Officer Alex Franklin (pictured right) in conjunction with other agencies.

Alex will be giving a talk about social networking (sites such as Facebook, MySpace and Bebo) and information will also be provided about how to make sure your child keeps safe while using the internet at home.

Vice Principal Sarah Ashby said:  "The event has been organized in response to feedback from our successful Year 6 Parent Literacy Workshops, where some parents said they would like some more information about issues that are relevant to today's young people."

The evening starts from 6pm and will run for approximately 45 minutes.

There is no need to pre-book attendance, however parents can express interest in attending by returning a slip (attached to a letter sent home this week) or by emailing Mrs Ashby on

Parents can also visit the Student Safety pages on our website (under the Parents tab on the home page) for more information about relevant issues.
