Search for CBA Newshounds to work with the BBC

Corby Business Academy has teamed up with the BBC to launch an initiative to find a team of reporters who will have their newsreels aired by the nation’s broadcaster.

On March 15th a team of 20 CBA students will report the news for the day, with the final edit posted onto a BBC news website.

The initiative is being launched tomorrow (Friday, November 25th), with an appeal for interested students to come forward.

The students, who must be aged between 11 and 16, should apply via letter to Gifted and Talented coordinator Claire Howsam, who will lead the project along with a BBC mentor.

Miss Howsam said: “This is a chance for students to report the news that they think is interesting in a way that will appeal to an audience of their age.”

The training for the big day will begin in January with Session 4 activities on a Tuesday.

The newshounds will be trained in all areas of news production, from scripting, reporting, to camerawork and editing.

The deadline for applications is Friday, December 2nd.

Students should email their letter to cbanewshounds@corbybusinessacademy.org  The letter should say why they want to become a newshound, the skills they have that would make them a good reporter and the qualities they have that make them a good team player.
