Students are being asked to help fill shoeboxes to be sent off to disadvantaged children in time for Christmas.

Each tutor group in every year group is being asked to fill two shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. There will be a prize for the tutor group will fills the most shoeboxes.

The filled shoeboxes will be sent off to go to disadvantaged children in Africa, Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

The Sixth Form Charity Committee is organising the Operation Christmas Child appeal within the Academy.

Teacher Felicity Cornish said: “Tutor groups are in the process of choosing whether to do shoeboxes for a girl or a boy and getting things together to go in the boxes.

“The shoeboxes can be filled with educational supplies like paper, pens and felt tips, as well as things like toys and teddy bears or hygiene products like soap, toothbrushes and toothpaste.”

The shoeboxes need to be filled by November 16^th ready to be sent on.

Last year shoeboxes filled by Academy students were sent off to disadvantaged children in Kyrgyzstan.
