Students are being urged to remember those killed in conflict and to spare a thought for our armed forces in Afghanistan in a series of assemblies today to mark Armistice Day.

Students are being urged to remember those killed in conflict and to spare a thought for our armed forces in Afghanistan in a series of assemblies today to mark Armistice Day.

Vice Principal Tony Segalini will deliver the assembly to all year groups throughout the day.

In his first assembly this morning Mr Segalini spoke about his own family connections to the armed forces and told students the story of Major Robert Henry Cain VC.

He urged students to observe the national silence on Armistice Day this Sunday and led a minute’s silence during the assembly.

To finish the assembly off the CBA Senior Concert Band performed ‘Evening Hymn and Sunset’, a song which is used in the armed forces to commemorate those killed in action.
