CBA Library Author Visit from William Hussey

Tuesday 11th July 2023

CBA Library is extremely excited to announce that William Hussey, successful and Award-winning YA author will be visiting us this term to deliver 3 fantastic workshops.

Year 7 and Year 8 students will have the opportunity to sign up in the library to attend a workshop of their choice from the following options:

Workshop 1: THE WITCHFINDER EXPERIENCE

This Horrible Histories-style event includes a memorable reading from the Witchfinder books and an introduction to the life of a writer. Students can play major roles in a full recreation of a 17th Century Witch Trial. The session provides a great introduction to Civil War history and, in the final moments, draws parallels with the modern issue of bullying.

Workshop 2: THE ‘WHAT IF…?’ WRITING WORKSHOP

This exciting workshop takes children on an interactive journey through the writing process. With a few tips of the trade, pupils come up with their own idea for a story, which is then developed into a narrative plot driven by a strong main character.

Workshop 3: THE GOTHIC MASTERCLASS

A fun and educational exploration of the Gothic genre, from its origins and its place in literature to core texts and the great writers. Students can participate in the Dracula vs Van Helsing Quiz.

Students must sign up in the Library.

Places for workshops will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Students will also be able to pre-purchase a copy of one of William’s books to be signed on the day. We have partnered with our local independent Bookseller, Quinns of Market Harborough who will be attending on the day.

The following copies are available to pre-order via WisePay and can be found under the General Products Manager section:
