Year 7 Students Pull Off Impressive Charity Fundraiser

As part of their enterprise activities all Year 7 students took part in a massive fundraiser and have managed to raise more than £900 for in need charities.

Help the Heroes, World Wildlife Fund and Cancer Research UK will all benefit thanks to the efforts of CBA students who undertook a charity challenge last term.

In league with the Giving Nations organisation - which helps students to become involved with charity events - students organised a cross country run around the CBA grounds and another group took part in a 1.5mile lap at neighbouring Rockingham Motor Speedway.

BHE teacher Alex Allan's four Year 7 groups organised the cross country run which took place on May 19 and May 20.

The event managed to raise £750 after students gathered sponsorship from friends and family.

Mrs Allan said: "Students completed a varying number of laps, with no student completing less than three of the three quarter mile laps - a fantastic achievement by all! The total amount of sponsorship money raised so far is much more than we expected.

"Congratulations to Joshua Cresswell for running a full eight laps and Michal Szablicki who achieved a record time of six minutes a lap.

"CBA would also like thank all participants and parents who supported their child in this event, in the generous fundraising."

BHE teacher Kirsty Farrar's three classes joined forces with our business link Rockingham Motor Speedway to undertake their fundraiser.

Mrs Farrar said: "All the students put a huge amount of effort into the event and we are delighted to have raised £150."
