Design and Technology Week Gets Underway

Design and Technology students are being given a taste of how to apply their skills to the world of business this week.

The first ever CBA Design and Technology Week started today and students will be heading into commercial companies to see how the skills they have learnt in the classroom are translated in the business world.

Today Year 10 GCSE Hospitality students are visiting the Hunting Lodge hotel in Cottingham;  on Tuesday a Year 10 group will make a visit to the Eveden lingerie company in Desborough and on Friday luxury boats are the order of the day as a Year 9 group head to Fairline Boats in Corby.

Design and Technology Director Cath Davis said: "Today the students will see first hand the ins and outs of the hospitality trade from how the reception runs to food production on a commercial scale.

"This is a great way for the students to see where the skills they are learning in the classroom can lead, and also will aid them with their GCSE preparations.

She added: "It will be a great experience for our students and will help us establish business links with local companies."
