Music for a Summer's Evening Concert Shines

The Music for a Summer’s Evening Concert hit all the right notes as students showcased their musical talents before a packed theatre.

The sounds of rapturous applause filled the Academy on Wednesday evening as students sung and played in a 90 minute medley which brought together sounds from the Caribbean along with classical music and popular tunes.

During the evening the concert band, choir, rock group, samba band and steel band put in magnificent performances alongside some small ensembles and a number of solo performances.

Highlights included solos from pianist Myles Peters and Flutist Hannah Moore. The three piece rock band Daydreamers also brought the house down with their performance of their own song A Lifetime of Happiness.

Principal Andrew Campbell said; "The excellent evening of music showed just how far CBA has come in this first year and how quickly the students are learning.

"Many students only took up their instruments this September and led by Mr Wears and our excellent team of peripatetic staff they have done excellently."

Staging the concert - which attracted more than 200 parents and students - was a whole Academy effort.

The Hospitality group spent hours baking more than 400 scones to serve to the guests as they arrived and many students were also involved in the production and meet and greet activities.
