Swimming Into Selection

A competitive CBA student has been selected to represent Northamptonshire Schools in a prestigious swimming gala.

Year 11 student Ross Hay will be one of just four swimmers in his age group to compete at the regional gala in September.

This is the first county call up for the teenager, who has been swimming competitively for the past eight years.

A member of the Corby Swimming Club he is delighted to have been chosen.

He said: "I have been trying to get into the county squad for some years so it is a real honour to have been chose.

"I am a naturally competitive person so swimming is a great sport for me."

The student, who trains for nine hours a week, hopes to push on from the selection and make the national squad.

And he hopes his chances of making the national team will be improved with the opening of Corby's new international sized pool.

He said: "It is a great venue and will bring swimmers from all over the region to Corby."
