Pumpkin Winner Revealed
Shola McGregor's vegetable beat some stiff competition to win the title of the CBA's first ever pumpkin competition which was launched in July.
After a donation of some seeds for the allotment it was decided to challenge the Year 7s to employ their green fingers and take the seedlings home to nurture them.
Shola, who is now in Year 8, has won cinema tickets for a film of her choice for herself and her family.
She said: "I just planted the seed in the garden and then watched it grow. I did not use any special plant food, just lots of water."
The student will be using the cinema tickets to see the film Fame.
And the winning pumpkin will be put to use at Halloween and then the seeds will be recycled for another batch of pumpkins later in the year.
Runners up were Chloe Bowden with a 5 Kg pumpkin who wins a £10 book voucher and Jack Farren with a 0.9 Kg pumpkin who wins a £5 book voucher.
Nathan Brooks who grew a butternut squash (because high demand for entry meant we ran out of pumpkin plants) also wins a £5 book voucher.
