New Head Boy and Head Girl Appointed

After making their cases before the Senate and a senior management panel the Academy’s new Headboy and Headgirl have been selected.

Year 12 students Chris Usher and Sarah Hurley have been awarded the honour after an intensive two-stage interview process over the past week.

Their deputies in the role will be fellow Year 12 students Ksenija Nazarova and Richard White.

Chris, who is studying Business, Public Services and AS level History and hopes to become a History Teacher, said he was hoping to give an academic lead to the younger students.

He said: "I want to help the younger students with their learning and act as a good role model to all."

Sarah, who wants to have a career in the travel industry, said: "I see my role as headgirl as being about giving the students a voice.

"I was a member of the Senate last year and so realise what power the student body has and how it can make changes within the Academy.

"I saw the hard work the Headboy and Headgirl put into the role last year and want to emulate them and make sure I make the most of this opportunity."

The first duty for the new headboy and headgirl will be welcoming the 150 primary school students who will be attending the Academy next week as part of a mentoring programme.

The pair take over from their predecessors Jordon Joseph and Jacquelene Tsiga, who were CBA's first ever headboy and headgirl.

During their time in office they carried out many important duties, most notably escorting the Prime Minister Gordon Brown on his tour when he officially opened the Academy in February.
