Safety Evening For Parents

CBA’s first ever safety information evening for parents has received positive feedback.

All of the parents and carers who attended yesterday's event were extremely pleased with the content of the sessions.

The event had been organised as a follow on from information sessions about online safety, and other issues such as underage drinking and solvent abuse, that have been talked about with students during assemblies and tutor time.

Vice Principal of Student Care and Guidance Steve Ellis said: "We decided to hold the event as we realised it was important to back up the information we have been giving to students, with some information for our students' parents and carers.

"Many parents may have concerns about the safety of their children while using the computer for social networking at home and so we wanted to give them some useful advice and tips on how they can help make their children's internet use safer."

Northants Police, Northants Fire Service volatile substance abuse charity Solve IT were present at the information session and a talk was given about a new safety device that has been added to the CBA website.

We have installed an icon on our home page (next to the email button), which will allow students to report online abuse and illicit activity to CEOP (Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre).

By clicking on the button a student is taken right through to CEOP, where they will be able to directly contact specially trained CEOP officers via an online reporting mechanism.

For those parents and carers who were unable to attend the safety information evening, there is more information available on our safety pages.
