Racing Dream For Student

A motorsport mad student is hoping to move into the next gear when he completes in a schools’ karting championship next week.

Fraser Gillan is part of the CBA team taking part in the British Schools Karting Championship being held at Peterborough Raceway on Monday (January 25th) and hopes that a win could raise his profile in the racing world.

The Year 10 student, dreams of being a professional driver and has been racing since the age of eight - spending five years in the Honda Pro Cart Championship where he raced against other drivers twice his age.

His hope is that can secure a place in the Ginetta Junior Championship and is currently looking for the sponsorship to help him achieve his dream. But with a £75,000 price tag to compete in the championship it is going to be hard work.

But Fraser is determined. He said: "I have been mad about cars and racing since the age of four. " I believe I can make it to the top, but I just need that chance."

Fraser has formed the CBA team with fellow students James Fyvie and Josh Ruddick.

They have been sponsored to take part in the event by local circuit Rockingham Motor Speedway.

So far they have taken part in practice sessions at the Corby racetrack and this Monday's event will be the East of England heat.

Each team member  will complete two ten minutes races and if the  team get down to the final three they will go forward to the regional finals at a race track in Suffolk.
