Uganda Quiz Night Raises A Mighty Sum

Students, staff, parents and friends turned out in large numbers to support the Uganda Fundraiser Quiz on Friday night.

The night was organised by Sixth Form stduents Chris Usher and Christina Mangin to raise funds to support the Discovery Centre in Uganda - CBA's international link school.

The pair, who will be visiting the centre with BHE teacher John Atkinson this October, have organised a series of charity events over the last few months to raise finance to helpfurther the development of the centre.

The centre, which is a residential resource set up 15 years ago in a response to the AIDS situation.

It is run in partnership with the Northamptonshire based Christian charity Adventure Projects Trust and Youth With A Mission Uganda.

After a hard fought battle the victorious quiz team were from the Academy's PNS department; comprising of Vice Principal Sarah Ashby and her two daughters and science teachers Stephen Chandler and Ashley Eagleson.

They beat a Sixth Form team to second place and the BHE staff team were placed third.

Teacher Kirsty Farrar, who established the link with the Ugandan education centre and visited herself last year, said: "The students have done an amazing job in their fundraising so far and did really well with the advertising to make sure there was a good turnout.

"They put in a lot of hard work, which paid off with the fantastic sum raised."
