Judo comes to Corby Business Academy

All students had the opportunity to try a new sport as the PNS faculty unveiled Judo Week.

Each year group got involved with the taster sessions that were offered as part of a collaboration between CBA and the Corby School's Sports Partnership.

Qualified judo coach Laurence Kenyon put the students through their paces during timetabled Active lessons and taught the basic moves and throws.

Mr Kenyon, who is a coach at Kettering Judo Club, said: "Because Judo is a controlled sport it helps young people learn some discipline and is also a great way to let off steam."

An afterschool club was also began which will continue in Term 4.

The cost of the after school club is £10 for the term and as part of this cost the students will receive a judo suit that they can keep.

Students who enjoy the after school judo sporting  hour and want to  learn more, can attend the sessions held by Corby Judo Club on Sundays from 4pm to 6pm.
