Children’s Author Casts A Spell Over Students
Caro King, who released her second novel Shadow Spell two weeks ago, gave Key Stage 3 students an insight into her fictional world, as she read some extracts and then asked students to come up with some creative ideas for the third book in her series.
The author, whose first book Seven Sorcerers was shortlisted for the prestigious Waterstones Childrens' Book award 2010, said: "It was really great to have some feedback from readers and the students came up with some really interesting ideas."
CBA librarian Amy McKay said: "Caro King has been tipped for great things and I imagine she is at the stage JK Rowling was at 15 years ago.
"I read the first book at the weekend and the story and the world she creates is really imaginative."
The Seven Sorcerers series centres around a young girl and her quest to release her kidnapped brother from the clutches of the bogeyman.
Year 9 student Kate Warrior said that following the talk she will be reading the books.
The author stayed to sign books at the end of the sessions which had been provided by Waterstones.
