Academy Sponsor Meets With Senate

The Student Senate discussed their contributions to life at CBA when one of the Academy’s sponsors paid a visit.

George Weston, from the Weston Foundation which is one of the joint sponsors of the Academy, met with students on Friday, June 11th.
He had a tour round the Academy, accompanied by Executive Principal Peter Simpson, and talked to staff and students.
Mr Weston had lunch with the Senate, who told him how they have been involved in the development of their Academy and some of the changes they have helped to bring about.
He showed a keen interest in progress of the Academy's cricket team, along with the links which have been forged with students in Uganda.
Vice Principal Sarah Ashby said: "It was a good opportunity for our Senate to celebrate with Mr Weston some of their achievements, including gaining the Platinum School Councils Award and how they have been mentoring other schools and colleges to enable their students to have a voice."
Mr Weston met with the Academy's steel pan band and was shown the ways in which the library helps to support students' learning.
He also paid a visit to the UNIT's kitchen garden and talked to students about some of the activities they take part in, including Sailability.
