Music And Dance Through Time

A whistle-stop tour of music and dance through the ages took families on a trip down memory lane at CBA’s Summer Show.

From the rock 'n' roll of the 1950s right through to the hits of reality television pop stars, all musical tastes were catered for with each era was represented by four songs and dances.

The Dance Ensemble gave a rousing performance of Elvis' Jailhouse Rock while Sereti Ogwang impressed with her version of Baby Love.

A highlight from the 1970s was the Rock Band's performance of Crazy Little Thing Called Love and the Year 10 BTEC Dance group captured the 1980s perfectly with the their moves to Madonna's hit, Vogue.

Rock trio Callum Connachie, Tyler Butler and Oscar Farley-Mcfadyen went down a storm with the audience when they played tracks by Nivana and Oasis.

Other favourites were Myles Peter, Andile Chiwuta, Kevin Ogwang and David Graham, who got everyone going with their performance of Hey Ya!

Dance Teacher Francia Dickinson said: "The evening was a great success. The audience really enjoyed the different ages and it had something to entertain everyone. All the students had worked very hard and this paid off on the night."

Music Teacher Felicity Cornish added: "All the soloists performed exceptionally well even despite some last minute nerves. The choir is getting stronger with each performance and they really gave it their all on the night, performing with a harmony part for the first time."
