Another Sports Star Selected For The County

One of CBA’s top sports stars saw off competition from 200 other girls to win a place on a county netball team.

Year 8 student Erica Turner was put forward for the Under-14s trials by her coach at Kettering Cougars Netball Club.

She got through the first round, where around 200 others were competing, and faced a tough day in the second round of the trials.

She played in matches and was then assessed on her communication skills, passing abilities and how well she listened to instructions.

After a challenging day, Erica was one of 28 girls selected from 48 to play for Northamptonshire.

She said: "It was hard because on the day, the county players came to play with us and against us so the standard was high.

"I didn't think I'd get through because there were lots of people there and every time I did well, I didn't think the coaches had seen me.

"I'm just looking forward to getting started now and giving it a go."

Erica, who plays in goal keeper position and is a member of CBA's netball team, will now train once a fortnight in Northampton for the county team.

She also has football trials with Leicester City FC coming up, just months after getting a trial with Arsenal Ladies.
