Mad-For-Maths Students Are World Challengers

A maths class was buzzing with excitement today when students reached 32nd position in an international online maths challenge.

Maths Teacher Maxwell Sam uses the Mathletics website to help students enjoy maths more through games and activities.

Classes and students across the world are constantly competing to get the most points and move up the role of honour.

This morning (Thursday, September 30th), Mr Sam's Year 8 class were furiously doing their calculations and cheering each other on to improve their ranking and their efforts paid off when they reached 32nd position in the World Top 50 Classes and 11th in the UK Top 50 Classes.

It follows last week's success when Year 9 student Barbara Silva made it into the UK Top 100 Students.

Mr Sam said: "This is the best achievement by one of my classes so far. It's great to see them get so excited about maths."

The website is used by 3 million students and 7,000 schools worldwide.
