Friends Group Set Up For Kitchen Garden

An appeal to set up a Friends of CBA Kitchen Garden group led to more than 50 people signing up.

Teacher Nikki Clark invited staff, students and families to join the group, which will help to fund future projects in the new garden.

She was aiming for 50 Friends but will increase the number to 60 because it has been so well supported.

The Friends will get discounts on homemade cakes made by students, garden produce and eggs.

The money raised by this year's subscription will pay for a special gate to allow wheelchair access into the chicken run.

Miss Clark organised an open garden evening for the Friends on Tuesday, September 28th to mark the formation of the group and she is hoping to organise similar events three times a year.

She said: "We are trying to encourage everyone to use the garden so it accessible to all."

During the summer a group of staff volunteered their time on a Saturday to help put up a greenhouse in the garden.

The fundraising has continued this term, with an auction of a driving experience at Rockingham Speedway which raised £90 to go towards the garden.
