Footballers Selected To Represent District

Four CBA footballers have been chosen from more than 40 players to play for the Kettering and Corby District Team.

Year 8 students Billy Frohmaier, Danny Draper, Ryan Linnell and Will Bell impressed coaches during a morning of trials and were picked for the side.

They will now go on to compete against different districts in the area, starting with a game against Oundle reserves on Saturday.

Team coach Stuart Baker said: "I am very proud that the four boys have been selected to represent the district.

"All four boys are not only very good footballers with lots of talent but whenever they play or train they also demonstrate a very good, positive attitude to the game.

"I wish them all the best and I'm sure they will do themselves and CBA proud."

The four boys also play for the Academy's Year 8 team, which got off to a wining start in the English schools' national competition with a 5-1 win over Huxlow Science College.

The team will now go into the draw for round three of the competition, which sees more than 800 teams entering from schools across the country.

The goal scorers were Billy Frohmaier, Daniel Bottrill, Ryan Linnell, Danny Draper and Sydney Kwambana and Daniel Bottrill was voted Man of the Match.

Danny, who is the team's captain, said he was looking forward to playing at district level, saying: "It will be more of a challenge and I'm looking forward to playing against bigger teams."
