Sixth Formers Praised For Award Ceremony Efforts

Sixth Formers who help to run Northamptonshire’s first Young People of the Year Award ceremony proved to be excellent ambassadors for CBA.

The event, which was held to recognise and celebrate young people in the county, took place at Rockingham Speedway on November 12th and Sixth Formers were instrumental in the organisation of the ceremony.

From presenters to photographer's assistants, each had a role to play in the smooth running of the event - and they certainly did themselves proud.

Vice Principal for Sixth Form Avril Bartley-Smith said: "What an experience for the Year 12 students. The whole event was fantastic and they did themselves and the Academy proud in front of a prestigious audience - the Lord Lieutenant for Northamptonshire, chairman of the Police Federation, Assistant Chief Constable for Northamptonshire Police and company directors who sponsored the event. The Mayors of all areas of Northamptonshire were also present."

Six students presented the whole ceremony and Mrs Bartley-Smith said she received a phone call from the Mayor of Corby Ann Brown the following week to congratulate all students on their exemplary attitude.

Mrs Bartley-Smith said she plans to promote the Young People of the Year Award at CBA in the coming months and will be handing our nomination forms, saying: "We have some students at the Academy who go out of their way to help others and they should be recognised."
