Ex-Professional Footballer Leads Training Programme

A former Birmingham City footballer has been helping Year 11 students to develop their skills.

CBA has teamed up with Weldon Football Club, which is currently using the Academy as their home ground, to offer the training programme.

Weldon's development officer has provided a programme for students to progress into the club outside of the school, together with help from Corby Borough Council, the School Sports Partnership and Northants FA.

Richard Scott, a former professional footballer who also played for Shrewsbury Town and Peterborough United before becoming manager of Spalding United, develops football in schools and clubs through his Soccer School.
The six-week programme at CBA will enable students to develop their skills with the intention of playing for a club outside of school.
The programme will also be available for Year 9 and 10 students within curriculum time and will be developed into Session 4.
CBA's Director of Sport Amy Harris said: "The programme is fantastic. It enables our students to think about continuing an active lifestyle outside of school into adulthood and we are grateful to Weldon Football Club and Richard Scott for providing this amazing experience.
"I have never seen the Year 11 students so focused and keen to impress - well done to you all."
