On The Right Track To Success

A Year 8 student was crowned the novice Midlands Karting Champion after competing in his first major competition.

Shea Pearce got his first Go Kart for Christmas in 2008 and since then he has been practising at four race tracks in Kimbolton, Rissington, Shenington and Whilton Mill and has also been receiving one-to-one tuition during the week.

He entered the Midlands Championships 2011 and was the winner of the novice section, even beating more experienced drivers and overtaking seven others in the final.

Shea said: "I just love the adrenaline rush - it's not like you're going for a Sunday drive around the track. It's an amazing feeling.

"It was really special to win because it was my first major competition.

"Karting's a hobby at the moment but I'd love to carry on and progress into Formula 1."

He is now aiming to be crowned winner of the blueplates category at the next Midlands Championships later in the year.
