Student’s Winning Sandwich To Go On Sale

A competition for students to come up with a new sandwich for the restaurant was a closely fought contest.

Year 7 student Morgan Wilson was revealed as the winner yesterday (March 17th) following a student survey.

His chicken, bacon, lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise combination proved to be a winning formula.

Restaurant staff launched the competition to find a new filling and they received 50 entries.

These were narrowed down to 10 before Vice Principal Sarah Ashby and student Nicole Parsons, who heads the Restaurant Committee, selected the three finalists.

Along with Morgan, they were Year 9 student Nathan Jury and Year 8 student Elise Cursons.

Nathan's entry was brie, bacon and salad in a seeded bagel, while Elise came up with wyshika (Polish salami) with lettuce, tomato, cucumber and mayonnaise in a wrap.

They spent a morning handing out taster samples to their peers who had to vote for their favourite.

There were only a few votes in it but Morgan was crowned the winner.

Catering Manager Chris Lapsley said: "Morgan's has got the chicken and bacon that students like but the salad means it also provides students with one of their five fruit and veg a day."
