Birmingham City Tops The League Of Readers

A goal difference of 50 put Birmingham City well ahead in the race to win an innovative reading challenge.

Premier Reading Stars saw teams pitched against each other to score points for the number of books read, complete with a transfer window every few weeks.

Birmingham City (pictured) was made up of Lee Young, Alex Cotter, William Bell and Callum Faulds and together, they 'scored' 86 goals and William was the league's top scorer with 31 goals.

Their nearest rivals were Bolton Wanderers who scored a very respectable 36 goals.

There was also a Sixth Form boys' team competing - Bolton - with William Walker from Year 9 as their captain.

Members of the winning team each received a £10 voucher along with a trophy while the runners-up were awarded a book token.

Assistant Librarian Bernie Smith said: "Well done to all the teams and thank you to all the boys who took part in the competition."
