Learner Of The Year Award For Student

Shannon Anderson was presented with a Learner of the Year Award by Tresham College for her dedication to a hair and beauty course.

Shannon, who is in Year 10, is part of a group of students who attend Tresham every Friday to study for a VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Hair and Beauty Studies.

She was invited to the college's annual Learner of the Year awards presentation on May 20th, which was attended by Kettering MP Philip Hollobone and local employers.

Shannon's picked up an award in the Tresham Vocational College 14-19 category and £100 cash prize.

Her tutors had this to say about her:

"Shannon is a pupil at Corby Business Academy and attends Tresham to study hairdressing and beauty therapy. She consistently works well in lessons and mixes well with her peers. She always completes her homework tasks to a high standard and hands them in on time. She preserves with her practical skills and has demonstrated considerable effort with the make-up unit. Shannon is not afraid to try new techniques and be creative with her designs. She participates well in sessions and displays good knowledge and understanding of the theory behind the practical."

Shannon said: "I enjoy the course because it's practical and it's a different way of learning. I was happy and proud that I got picked for the award."
