Corby Sings Gospel at CBA

A gospel extravaganza took place at Corby Business Academy this term as more than 100 students from schools across Corby got together for a one off event.

Pupils from Weldon Primary, Studfall School, Exeter Primary and Kingswood Primary joined students from CBA for the first Corby Sings Gospel project which took place on December 5.
Led by musical director Garth Fuller, who has worked with musicians such as Elton John and the world famous London Gospel Choir, the event saw more than 400 people crowd into the
CBA hall to listen to the amazing vocal performance.

Fittingly for the first ever public concert held in the hall, the choir were joined on stage by musicians from the mainstream pop industry, although the students did not allow themselves to be out sung.

Principal Dr Campbell said: “The concert was an amazing experience. The theatre was packed with an audience of over 400 people. “All students felt this concert was a valuable and worthwhile experience and can’t wait to become involved with the next gospel project to be held at
Corby Business Academy.”

Rehearsals were held over a ten week period and students put in many hours to make sure they did justice to the gospel songs they were being taught.

Many CBA students sang solos including Kevin Karuga-Ogwang, Myles Peters, Andile Chiwata, Rachel Lascar-Awolesi, Vivyan Gillan- Ragoobar and Vuyiswa Mtsambrwa. The event was such a success we are hoping to do the same again next year.
