Kids' Lit Quiz 2008

‘A pub quiz without the beer’, is how best-selling author Celia Rees described the Kids’ Lit Quiz and that was exactly the type of atmosphere eight Year 7s and 8s enjoyed this month.

The Kids’ Lit Quiz is a major international celebration of books and reading that aims to encourage Year 7 and 8 students to enjoy and discuss reading.

Forty teams of four competed against other teams from the region for a place in the live fi nal, which this year will be held at the Seven Stories centre in Newcastle.

This year’s event was held in the Great Hall at Oundle School and included a team of children’s authors who were fiercely competitive, but also very generous when awarded spot prizes for individual shows of genius.

Corby Business Academy was represented by two teams:

Corby Big Brain Academy (comprising Kate Warrior, Megan Hogg, Alex Campbell and Brandon Bennett) and the CBA Book Worms (comprising Jesse Moffatt, Kyle Murrie, Ivy Cheung and Leah Findlay).

Both teams did exceptionally well, especially Corby Big Brain Academy who won two out of the ten categories. Unfortunately we’re not jetting off to the international final this time (which will be held in South Africa in early 2009), but the future certainly looks promising.
