Sixth Form Visit Paris for Business Conference
A number of Sixth Form students had the opportunity to attend a four day Business Live conference In Paris. Some of you may be thinking ‘BORING’ but wait for it! It was at Disneyland Paris.
We left in the evening to travel overnight to Paris using the Eurotunnel. Despite feeling tired our first day in Paris, was spent in one of the Disney parks. The scale and size of everything was a surprise to us all. We soon learnt the fast track system and could pre-book a ride and come back instead of queuing.
The fast pace continued and we then went to our accommodation, which was at the Disney Davy Crockett Ranch. It did not take us long to settle in before we were off again to attend the Buffalo Bill show. We enjoyed a fantastic meal eating out of tin plates whilst watching the show.
The second day was conference day, held at the IMAX theatre. We were able to listen to the guest speakers who inspired us to think outside the box.
One speaker was Irfan Badakshi, who, at the age of 25, founded the Bean2Bed company which has already been the subject of a channel 4 documentary. He talked about his business planning and strategy.
Emma Harris who is the Eurostar marketing manager talked about how she has brought a commercial approach to Eurostar. Her case study was about how she ensured all Eurostar employees were fully informed and motivated about the move to St Pancras. Richard Donkin spoke about People in Organisations and Stephen Cole a well known journalist was the Chairman.
The return journey was very quiet as most of slept until we reached Calais where we visited a shopping mall and could experience French cuisine and buy some presents. The whole experience was great fun.
