Careers at Corby Business Academy
Careers support and guidance at Corby Business Academy is provided by an independent careers company called TimelyAdvice. Embedding Careers Education, Information and Guidance (CEIAG) within a clear framework is a core principle of our CEAIG provision. At Corby Business Academy we want all students to have the full range of opportunities available to them, to be ambitious and to have the tools to reach their goals.
To support careers development we have a Careers Consultant, Nicola Stanbridge based in the school. Nicola is available by individual student request and by deployment by staff. Nicola, is also vailable at all crucial points to support student decision making including Key Stage 3 transition into Key Stage 4, Post 16, Post 18, exams result and enrolment days.
All Year 11 students have an in-depth, one to one careers meeting with Nicola to discuss their aspirations and opportunities. She provides impartial and objective help and support, ensuring students have the right advice at the right time, which will enable them to make informed decisions about their career pathway.
TimelyAdvice facilitates work experience placements for relevant students, employer engagements and motivational speakers. Throughout the year, students are encouraged to become proactive about their own future and are exposed to the available options and opportunities which include finding out more about Apprenticeships, Entrepreneurialism and other vocational pathways alongside the more traditional A levels and university route to ensure all opportunities are maximised.
Nicola can be contacted via the school or alternatively by visiting www.timelyadvice.org.uk
In addition, we have a senior leader with strategic responsibility for CEAIG, Mr Mohammed Isnat, please contact Mr Isnat via the school if you wish to discuss any aspects of careers provision.
