Dear Parent/Carer

Information for New Intake students starting at Corby Business Academy - 7th September 2011

As the start of the new academic year is almost upon us, I would like to take this opportunity to say how much we are looking forward to welcoming the students who will be moving into our year 7 next week.

Whilst I appreciate that the move to a new school can be a daunting time it is also an exciting event that hopefully many of your children will be eagerly looking forward to.

To ensure that the first day of the new term runs as smoothly as possible for the students, I would like to answer some of the questions that you may have been thinking about recently.

Transport:

Some parents have raised concerns about transport to the academy on the first day of term.  I would like to assure you that the students will be allowed to travel on the school transport on the first day without any problems.  During the course of the day we will issue all students with their bus pass and you should have already received a letter from Northamptonshire County Council about the transport route your child will be allocated a place on.  If you have any questions about this please contact Student Transport Services on Tel: 01604 654403 or visit the website: www.northamptonshire.gov.uk/learning and education/general information for parents/school transport.  I have enclosed with this letter a copy of the transport timetable for your information.

Uniform:

Arrangements are in place for any parents who have not yet collected items of school uniform, to come in to the Academy on Tuesday 6th September between 9.30 a.m. and 12.00 noon.

Student ID Cards:

Students will also be issued with their Academy swipe card on their first day which must be presented by everybody at the turnstiles and in the restaurant for every meal.

On arrival at the academy on Wednesday morning all Year 7 students will be met at reception and directed to the theatre where they will receive instructions on the agenda for the day.

I look forward to working with you over the coming months and I am sure that the students will all settle into the new routines of academy life and enjoy their time with us.  All the staff at CBA will be working very hard to make sure this is the case.

Yours faithfully

John Henrys
