June 2012 “Read your way to Uganda” (by invitation only)

June 2012

Dear Parent/Carer

As part of CBA’s commitment to increasing literacy levels the school have been running a competition called “Read your way to Uganda”. The aim of this project was to encourage all students in the school to increase the amount of time they spend reading, and to raise awareness of the upcoming trip to Uganda by our Sixth Form students.

We set students the task of reading over 1 million words, and if they did this they would qualify for a place at CBA Camp. This will involve your child camping overnight at the school and participating in team games, bbq and a storyteller in the evening around a camp fire.

They will need to bring a sleeping bag, torch, PE kit and some warm clothing for during the night. Students may also bring snacks for the night feast if they wish, although food will be provided.

I am pleased to inform you that your child has qualified for a place on the camp on Friday 22nd June 2012. The camp will start straight after school and your child will need to be collected from school the next morning by 8.30am.

Only forty places were allocated across the school for this camp and I am sure you will agree this is a fantastic achievement by your child to have secured one of these places. I am sure you will join with me in congratulating them on their success.

Yours faithfully

K Farrar
