Hospitality students cater for parents at important meeting

Our young experts in Hospitality catered for parents from across the area at an important meeting.

Our young experts in Hospitality catered for parents from across the area at an important meeting.

Parents of students with Statements of Special Educational Needs from Corby, Kettering and Wellingborough were invited to our Academy to learn about changes to their children’s provision.

The meeting gave parents the opportunity to learn about the transfer process to new Education Health Care Plans and to ask questions of members of the county’s Information Advice Support Service.

During the meeting the families were made welcome by our KS4 Unit students of BTEC Hospitality who served them refreshments.

Teacher Caren Brown said: “The transfer is a big thing for parents and the event helped them to learn about the process for transfer and the impact it will have on the provision for their children.

“It was an opportunity for them to ask questions and find out how they can prepare for the transfer.

“The change means that instead of education taking the lead on what is important for a young person, representatives from health and social care will have more input into them too.

“We were delighted that our KS4 Unit students of BTEC Hospitality provided the refreshments for the event, including cakes, biscuits, teas and coffee.

“The members of the Information Advice Support Service said our school was incredibly welcoming.”

On November 18th, CBA parents of Year 11 and 13 students will have an opportunity to meet with representatives from the local authority and EHCP Team.
