May 2015 - MAIT Progress Parent Meeting (by invitation only)

May 2015

Dear Parent/ Carer,

Re: Maths Progress Target Group Parent Meeting on Wednesday 6th May 2015, 5.45pm.

We are writing to you regarding a range of support we are putting in place to target those students who are at risk of not making the progress that we would expect them to make during Year 11 in Maths. Your son/daughter has been identified as being part of this ‘at risk’ group.

As you are aware, we are in the final few weeks in the run up to crucial GCSE examinations for all subjects. Students taking their Maths GCSE this summer are taking a course which does not include any controlled assessment or coursework elements. This means that your son/daughter’s final GCSE Maths grade will be entirely dependent on their performance in the summer examinations.

In order to ensure you have all the key information to help you to support your son/daughter with their Maths, we will be holding a short meeting on Wednesday 6th May at 5.45pm. During the meeting we will discuss revision strategies for Maths, session 4 support lessons and revision workshops which will be running during the May half term. If you have any questions regarding the meeting or if you are unable to attend the meeting please contact me directly on: RHurcombe@corbybusinessacademy.org.uk .

Following the meeting you will have the chance to discuss the progress of your son/daughter with the Director of Subject for Maths, Ms Thompson. In the meantime please feel free to contact Ms Thompson with any further questions you have in relation to the progress of your son/ daughter in Maths. Ms Thompson’s email contact is: HThompson@corbybusinessacademy.org .

We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday 6th May at 5.45pm.

Yours Sincerely,

Mrs R Hurcombe

Vice Principal
