Experts from the business world have helped our students to make plans for their future careers.
A group of Year 10 students from our Academy received expert advice from businesses and education providers at the Northamptonshire Skills Show Experience at Northampton Saints Rugby Club.
Students also took part in a range of activities during the day to help them with their career choices.
Year 10 student Abigale Gormley was one of the students who attended the event.
She said: “The Northampton Skills Show was good.
“It gave us a good look into the businesses and companies that we could pursue a career in.
“There were a variety of great workshops available on the day.
“I enjoyed the catering workshop as it involved mixing different juices which was really fun.
“I would definitely recommend the event to next year’s Year 10 students.”
Fellow student Ellie May Alcorn added: “I discovered information about the jobs which are out there and the event really made me think about what I want to be.”
The exhibitors included the Army, Northampton Saints, Festo, Connexions, NHS, Northamptonshire Enterprise Partnership, Grant Thornton Accountants and Knights of Old.
The activities and talks on offer covered a range of topics, including blood testing, plumbing, soil testing, block paving, willow weaving, fly fishing, wheat milling and bread making, sports, stripping and rebuilding an engine, floristry, stonemasonry, photography, electrical installations, nail art design, engineering, accountancy, logistics, IT, food and fashion.
The event was supported by The Skills Show, the European Social Fund and the National Careers Service.
