Thirteen of our older students have successfully completed a tough two-day trek in Wales.

Our Academy took seven Year 12 Btec Public Services students and six Year 10 Geography students to Snowdonia where they were challenged to climb the mountain called Moel Siabod and camped at Capel Curig.

It took the group about two-and-a-half hours to trek to the summit of Moel Siabod and about four hours to descend again.

Vice Principal Tony Segalini was one of the staff members who accompanied the students on the expedition.

He said: “The students participated in a tough two day trek, including climbing Moel Siabod, an 850m mountain with full packs.

“The students did exceptionally well considering many had no previous experience.”

Geography Teacher Maxine Hopewell and Active Teacher Natasha Dunstone also went on the trip.

Miss Dunstone said: “The students were amazing. The Year 12 students were really keen to support the Year 10 students.

“The campsite had no running water and was in the middle of nowhere and the students coped really well with the situation.

“This was one of the best expeditions we have ever run.”
