Nearly 30 students from across the Academy took part in a challenging residential trip to Grendon Hall.

Members of Resourced Provision and Unit were accompanied on the trip by staff and a number of Sixth Formers who provided support to the younger students as part of their Duke of Edinburgh award scheme.

During their stay the group stayed in Yurts and tents and took part in a wide range of activities, including using a zipwire, taking on an assault course whilst blindfolded and tackling the swamp ropes.

Teacher Caren Brown said: “We stayed at Grendon for two nights and three days and all the students coped really well.

“For some of the students it was the first time they had stayed away from home.

“Our Sixth Form leaders were amazing and supported our younger students really well.

“Everyone did incredibly well with the activities. Some of the students were nervous about some of the challenges but they were determined to complete them and everyone helped each other.

“The trip helped our students to build their team-building, social, self awareness and enterprise skills.”

During the visit the group also prepared their own meals, organized a barbecue and had a fun in a bouncy castle, a paddling pool and with a water fight.

They also had a special celebration to mark the birthday of one of our students, Callum Fraser.

The Sixth Formers who took part in the residential were Andrew McCool, Jake Lewis, Bradley Thompson, Ellie Macleod, Chloe Bowden, Lewanna Lamden and Nicole Bean.

Staff members John Atkinson, Kim Isaksen, Richard White, Kirsty Hill, Vickie Osbourne and Linda McCracken also went on the trip.
