Mathematicians take part in tough contest

Five of our Sixth Formers showed their commitment to mathematics by competing in a tough high profile competition.

Five of our Sixth Formers showed their commitment to mathematics by competing in a tough high profile competition.

Year 12 students Kyla Bite, Roisin Curran, Lucy Hall, Alex Lawless and Eloise Robertson took part in the UK Mathematical Olympiad for Girls which is for talented female mathematicians.

Assistant Director of Mathematics Maxwell Sam said: “It was a really a good experience for our students and they all did their best.

“They didn’t make it through to the next round but their results were very promising and I was impressed with them all.

“The experience will help us to prepare for the competition next year.”

The students received certificates for taking part in the event.

The competition is run by the UK Mathematics Trust
