One of the biggest names in the world of young adult fiction will visit our Academy on the day of her next book launch.
Cathy Cassidy worked on teenage magazine Jackie and was Shout magazine’s Agony Aunt for 12 years before she published her first book, Dizzy, in 2004.
Since then she has sold more than 2million copies of her books and is due to launch her latest book, Fortune Cookie, on June 4th when she will visit our Academy.
CBA Librarian Amy McKay said: “Cathy Cassidy is one of the UK’s best selling authors in this age group.
“It’s incredibly exciting to have someone so famous visiting us.
“Cathy is hugely popular and her books are always being borrowed from our Library.
“She will talk to us about her books, including Looking Glass Girl, which was launched to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Alice in Wonderland, and her new book Fortune Cookie which comes out on the day of her visit here.”
The former Queen of Teen award winner will give a talk to our Year 7 and 8 students and to students from 10 other local schools in our Main Theatre.
During her visit Quinns Bookshop from Market Harborough will sell copies of Fortune Cookie at our Academy for a discounted price of £10.
Miss McKay said: “It’s great that our students will have the opportunity to meet Cathy and to buy a copy of her new book if they want one. It means they will have the chance to be one of the first students in the country to get hold of a signed copy.”
Cathy’s other awards include the Royal Mail Award for Scottish Children’s Books in 2007, the Lincolnshire Young People’s Book Award in 2009 and the Doncaster Book Award in 2013.
