A team of business leaders visited our Academy to give our Year 12 students important career advice.
The event was called the Hidden Job Market and was designed to encourage our Sixth Formers to think about the career paths they want to follow and how they can best present themselves.
During the event our students took part in a range of activities and had the chance to question representatives from high profile organizations, including Mars, Marks & Spencer, Defra, Brakes, the Co-operative Group and IGD.
CBA Head of Sixth Form Sam Anderson said: “This event gave our students the opportunity to question key business people in the grocery industry.
“Our visitors talked to the student about the fact that 70% of jobs are never advertised and gave them advice about what employers look for on CVs and during interviews.
“Although the representatives were from the grocery industry a lot of the information they provided was transferable to other industries as well.
“We wanted to give our Sixth Formers access to this information early in Year 12 to encourage them to think about the amount of work they have to do for their next steps in life and to show them the range of options that are available to them.
“We also wanted them to realize the importance of researching the careers they are interested in. The employers told the students it was important they did their homework on the companies they apply to so that they understand the businesses.”
