Our Year 9 students have studied diamond mining in Africa as part of their introduction to GCSE Geography.

The students examined working conditions for the miners and how the diamonds make their way into the market.

Director of Geography Maxine Hopewell said: “Our Year 9 students investigated diamond mining in Sierra Leone as part of their introductory skills unit to Geography GCSE.

“The students looked at the working conditions in diamond mines and mapped the journey from source to shop.

“Three Year 9 GCSE groups undertook the skills unit which covers various topics, including misconceptions about the African continent.”
