Sixth Formers help students in Africa

Our Academy is able to send much needed textbooks to Africa thanks to a group of kind-hearted Sixth Formers.

Our Year 12 and 13 Geography students held a bake sale at our recent Enterprise Sale to enable us to ship to Africa 10 boxes of former GCSE and Key Stage 3 text books which we cannot use any more because the curriculum has changed.

The bake sale raised about £36 which means we can pay for the books to be posted to Africa via the Books2Africa charity and we have some money left over to donate to the Save the Cassowary project which is trying to save an endangered bird from extinction.

Director of Geography Maxine Hopewell said: “I’d like to thank our Sixth Formers for working so hard to raise the money and a special thank you to our technician Debbie Reilly for her help.”
